How to Thank Teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week

By- Erika Semprun

Have you ever wanted to thank your teachers for everything they do, but don’t exactly know how? Today, Vista Higher Learning is showing you how to make your educator feel appreciated.

USE YOUR WORDS

Do you ever wonder how often students express their gratitude or love for their teachers? The answer is quite rarely. The next time a teacher offers you help, say something like, “Thank you for all you do,” or, “Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.” These phrases may seem insignificant to you, but to educators who give students hours of their time, those words can mean everything.

WRITE THEM A LETTER

Do you want to do something more meaningful than a simple thank you? Opt for writing your educators notes or letters. Recount a moment when your teacher’s help meant a lot to you, or simply talk about a moment that has stuck with you—maybe one in which your teacher really made an impact on you. Let them know that what they’re doing makes a real difference. Expressing your genuine gratitude means much more to them than you think.

GET YOUR TEACHER A TREAT

Does your teacher have a favorite kind of coffee, cookie, or donut? Pick up one of these go-to treats as a special thank you. A move like this is sure to make your educator’s day! Remember that it doesn’t have to be Teacher Appreciation Week to do something nice for your teacher. After all, your teacher works hard all year round.

OPT FOR SOMETHING YOUR TEACHER NEEDS

Is your teacher always mentioning that the white board markers don’t work, or that the stapler is broken? Believe it or not, in a lot of schools, teachers are forced to buy their own supplies. Make note of your teacher’s comments so you know exactly what to get them when Teacher Appreciation Week rolls around.
