Fall in Love with the Flavors of Fall – Resources for your Spanish Classroom

Andrea Roberson

When I think of fall, I think of the warm colors that come with the change of seasons. The leaves are changing colors and our palates crave the rich flavors of fall and winter. Of course, the first thing that comes to my mind is the bright orange and the rich flavors of pumpkin and sweet potato.

Pumpkin is native to North America. Its first traceable origins go back to 7000 BC in Mexico. The sweet potato is a native to Central and South Americas. It also has some roots in the Caribbean, and it can be traced back to 2500 BC. They both have a sweet flavor and can be used in sweet and savory dishes. So with this in mind, I wanted to put together a list of fall dishes with pumpkin and sweet potato. There are so many options. Try one, try all, but whatever you do . . . savor these seasonal flavors.
