The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) invites you to celebrate National Teach Spanish Week (NTSW), a week-long event to be held Sunday, September 25 – Sunday, October 2.
Spanish teachers Ryan Casey of Lexington High School, Lexington, MA, and Nadine Jacobson- McLean of Hawthorne Elementary School, Louisville, KY, have been named co-chairs of the 2022 celebration.
The purpose of National Teach Spanish Week is to promote the teaching of Spanish as a profession, to call attention to the current Spanish teacher shortage nationwide, and to emphasize the importance of Spanish as a world language.
We encourage teachers to discuss with their students the influence of the Spanish language and culture worldwide and the many opportunities that their knowledge of Spanish can provide them.
The AATSP has organized many exciting events and programs to celebrate National Teach Spanish Week.
Teachers can participate by sharing a video, engaging in fun NTSW activities with students, applying for a professional development scholarship to support travel to the 105th AATSP Annual Conference in Salamanca, Spain, and participating in special webinars.
